One of the many things all small businesses try to do is make sure that their customers are happy and are connected with their business. Now more than ever, you want to keep that connection flowing and not miss out on any opportunities to maintain the relationship between you and your customers.

We have outlined four key areas that you can use to keep customers informed on all aspects of your business and sustain constant contact:

  1. Social Media — Social media usage is at an all-time high at the moment, with people checking their social media accounts multiple times throughout the day. By having a strong presence on social media with posts about operations changes, promotional offers or sales, you are able to keep your customers constantly informed, and it will ensure that you are showing up in their news feeds. It is also the perfect platform to increase your reach and attract new customers by placing ads, posting photos, and including facts and news about your particular business or industry.

Discounts and Promo Codes — You may be wary of offering discounts at the moment, especially since you are trying to avoid losing revenue, but discounts and promotions can create new opportunities for your small business. Everyone enjoys receiving something “exclusive” to them, so creating promotional codes for your customers can lift their spirits and encourage them to make a purchase from you. You can also offer referral discounts, which could provide your business with new customers.

There are many applications available that allow you to schedule an interactive video call with your customers to discuss the current state of the business and answer questions. During these times, your customers will feel a stronger sense of team, collaboration and camaraderie.

  4. Transparency — Your ability to be clear and transparent during this time not only allows your customers to know how your business is doing but also shows that you are human and that you are experiencing challenges that are affecting your business. If you can be honest with your customers and let them know that you are struggling, or if you have had to lay off employees, they will understand and support you. Clear communication is key right now.
