The Search Has Begun for the Next Top Entrepreneur

Nominations Now Open for Entrepreneur magazine’s Entrepreneur of 2014 Contest presented by The UPS Store

(IRVINE) April 8, 2014 – Entrepreneurs make huge sacrifices for their companies’ success every day, but it’s that time of year for small-business owners to sing their own praises and earn major bragging rights for a chance to be named Entrepreneur magazine’s Entrepreneur of 2014. The contest is presented by The UPS Store and honors the fearless business leaders who are re-shaping their industries and giving back to their communities with their passionate entrepreneurial endeavors.

Past winners of the annual contest include Patrick O’Neill of olloclip (2013), Limor Fried of Adafruit Industries (2012), Jason Lucash of OrigAudio (2012), Daniel Lubetzky, founder of KIND Healthy Snacks (2010), and Rick Alden of Skullcandy (2009).

Winning entrepreneurs will be chosen in three categories:

  • Entrepreneur of 2014 - open to established business owners with no more than 130 employees and gross sales revenue of at least $3 million in 2013
  • Emerging Entrepreneur – open to established business owners with no more than 12 employees, and between $50,000 and $300,000 in gross sales revenue in 2013
  • College Entrepreneur –  for undergraduate or graduate students with promising business plans, between the ages of 18 and 25 during the time of submission

Among other prizes, winners will be profiled in the January 2015 issue of Entrepreneur magazine and will receive $500 in business services from The UPS Store. In addition, the College of Entrepreneur of 2014 will win $5,000 in business startup capital.

“Every profitable day is a win for entrepreneurs, but the ones who stand out in this contest go beyond that,” says Amy Cosper, vice president and editor-in-chief of Entrepreneur magazine. “It’s an exciting time to see what our readers have been accomplishing through their companies. Every year they deliver quality ideas, inspirational back stories and really ‘wow’ us with their innovations.”

“Having the opportunity to align with today’s leading small-business owners drives us to support them with the same amount of passion they exhibit for their own companies,” says Michelle Van Slyke, vice president of marketing and small business solutions at The UPS Store. “We are proud to champion the efforts of the small-business community through this annual recognition.”
