The UPS Store, Inc. climbs to No. 2 in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500

Another notable year helps the industry leader in retail shipping and business services capture a top spot on ranking list

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 6, 2022 – The UPS Store, Inc., the world's largest franchisor of retail shipping, postal, print and business service centers, achieved the #2 ranking on Entrepreneur Magazine’s annual Franchise 500 list of the top franchise brands in the U.S. and Canada. The network has ranked in the top five since 2017 and is also the No. 1 brand in the Postal & Business Centers category for the 32nd consecutive year.

“We continue to be in awe of the resiliency and customer-first thinking of our retail owners, which is what makes this great achievement possible,” said Sarah Casalan Bittle, president, The UPS Store, Inc. “The past year has been another challenging one for small businesses, and our retail owners have worked tirelessly to help them forge ahead and succeed. They care deeply about the communities they serve because they are part of those same communities.”

As the pandemic has accelerated a shift to e-commerce, The UPS Store plays a critical role in facilitating the increased transactions through packing, shipping, printing, mail solutions, and more for its core, small business customer. What’s more is that a newly remote workforce means workers need a solution to stay connected to their offices, friends and family. Both factors have led to increased demand for the services offered at The UPS Store.

“There is already a The UPS Store center located within 10 miles of more than 85% of the U.S. population, and we are excited to expand our footprint into new communities as demand continues to increase for the services provided by The UPS Store,” said Steve Chambers, vice president of retail and business development.

That demand is leading to accelerated growth. In 2021, The UPS Store marked the opening of its 5,000th location in North America. It also expanded its Diversity Ownership Program to include members of the LGBTQ+ community, offering qualifying candidates discounts of up to 50% on initial franchise fees. This, alongside the “Great Resignation,” where workers are rethinking their day-to-day priorities and career path, means that many new and diverse entrepreneurs are expected to try their hand at franchising with The UPS Store, which offers small business ownership backed by the resources of an iconic brand, fueling additional growth in the months ahead.
